Telangana CM to Unveil First-Ever MSME Policy Today

The Telangana government is set to launch its first-ever Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) policy today, aimed at boosting industrial growth and supporting women entrepreneurs in the state. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will unveil the new MSME policy on Wednesday, which is expected to address key areas such as land allocation, technology upgrades, and research and development.

Sources indicate that the policy will focus on six priority sectors, with special emphasis on aerospace and defense manufacturing. To facilitate growth in these sectors, the state government is expected to announce a ₹100 crore fund dedicated to technology upgrades for MSMEs operating in the defense and aerospace industries. Additionally, the policy will likely offer incentives and subsidies to encourage the establishment and expansion of MSMEs in Telangana.

In a move to foster women entrepreneurship, the policy is expected to simplify the process of land allocation by introducing a land leasing system rather than selling land to women entrepreneurs. This initiative is designed to make it easier for women to establish MSMEs in the state.

According to official statistics, Telangana is home to 26 lakh MSMEs, with 66% located in urban areas and 44% in rural regions. Since the state’s formation in 2014, 19,954 MSME units have been registered, attracting investments of about ₹31,023 crore and generating employment for approximately 3,36,488 people.

The new MSME policy is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing industrialization and providing a supportive environment for MSME growth in Telangana.
