MSME Ministry Announces Discounts on Khadi & Village Industries Products

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has introduced a 25% wage hike for spinners and a 7% increase for loom weavers, effective from October 2. This move was originally announced on September 17. Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), noted that spinners, who were previously earning ₹10 per hank, will now receive ₹12.50, reflecting an effort to improve economic conditions for rural workers.

Kumar highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past decade, wages have risen by 213%, marking significant progress toward rural economic empowerment through the Khadi sector. To further boost this sector, a nationwide discount campaign is underway, offering a 20% discount on Khadi products and a 10% discount on Village Industries products. The discount period began today and will run until November 30.

Kumar credited the transformation of spinners’ and weavers’ lives to Prime Minister Modi’s vision, noting that the “Khadi Revolution” has significantly boosted rural employment. He also reported that the Khadi sector surpassed ₹1.55 lakh crore in business last fiscal year, reinforcing its critical role in India’s rural economy.
