Gujarat Government Announces Relief Package for Flood-Hit MSMEs in Vadodara

The Gujarat government has rolled out a comprehensive relief package to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Vadodara, which were heavily impacted by the recent floods. On Thursday, state spokesperson Rushikesh Patel announced that the decision was made by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during a state cabinet meeting. The relief will be provided through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help affected businesses recover from their losses.

The relief package offers financial assistance tailored to different business categories. MSME owners with lorries will receive a lump sum of ₹5,000. For those operating from small cabins up to 40 square feet, the compensation will be ₹20,000. Owners of larger permanent cabins over 40 square feet will be eligible for ₹40,000.

Traders running small and medium-sized pucca shops will benefit from a relief amount of ₹85,000. Additionally, shop owners with a monthly turnover exceeding ₹5 lakh can apply for a loan of ₹20 lakh to cover their losses. Furthermore, they are eligible for a ₹5 lakh loan at a 7% interest rate, with repayment terms extending up to three years.

To avail this relief, affected parties must submit their applications to the relevant municipal commissioner, Mamlatdar, or chief officer by October 31. Patel clarified that while the total amount of the relief package was not disclosed, all applicants meeting the criteria will receive compensation from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Although Patel did not provide specific figures on the total damage caused by the floods in Vadodara and surrounding regions, he confirmed that a central government survey is currently underway to assess the full extent of the damage. He also mentioned that all ministers and MLAs have pledged to donate their one-month salary to the CM Relief Fund, as part of their effort to assist the flood-affected businesses and residents.
